I wrote a note to a friend of mine who is seeking his own truth… Having been (and still on) this journey myself, I wanted to share something with him that had been a tremendous part of me. I would like to take the opportunity to share that with you today.
I have read Rainer Maria Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet” throughout the past several years, on and off. Sometimes to seek guidance, other times to just be reminded of what it means to live… the spiritual and physical struggles, the constant battle between individual enlightenment and societal confines, that life is not about answers but questions. They have helped me tremendously with my own development and soothed me in difficult times.
As I read and re-read each letter, I may not grasp each kernel of wisdom immediately, but when the answers reveals themselves through life’s journey – they ring true time and time again – and even more importantly, different insights seem to emerge with each read.
I hope you find comfort in these as I have in the past and will in the future. I particularly enjoy Letters 4, 6, 7, 8
